What is the role of the Community Planning and Renewal Unit?

The Community Planning and Renewal Unit is part of Housing SA in the Department for Families and Communities. The unit provides two key areas of interrelated service responses within Housing SA.


The first is to provide advice and practical support to Housing SA staff to assist in achieving the following outcomes:

  • A range of consultation and engagement methods for the local diverse community.
  • Community and local service provider participation in Housing SA business and service planning.
  • Creating successful joined up service models to address local issues of concern.
  • Increased participation in local activities and networks by the community as a whole.
  • Improved service outcomes through effective partnership arrangements with local service providers.
  • Sustainable and lasting social, economic and environmental benefits in areas undergoing urban renewal.

The second area of work is to provide leadership and coordination around the integration of community building strategies with urban infrastructure planning and renewal including:
