Office for the Ageing

Last Updated May 2009

The Office for the Ageing supports and administers a range of programs to assist older South Australians. These are:-

Office for Carers

The Office for Carers was established in the Department for Families and Communities as a part of the Office for the Ageing in October 2006 following the SA Carers Recognition Act becoming law in December 2005.

Ministerial Advisory Board on Ageing

In 1995, the Office for the Ageing Act was created to establish the Office and the Ministerial Advisory Board on Ageing. This board provides advice to the Minister concerning issues for older people. As well as implement and administer policy, projects and programs, we also:

  • Advise and support the Minister for Ageing
  • Raise awareness of issues affecting older people
  • Work collaboratively across government
  • Undertake policy, planning and service development
