Eligible South Australian residents may be able to receive a concession of up to $158 per year on their household energy bills, to assist with electricity and gas payments (including LPG bottled gas).
Eligibility
You may be eligible if you:
- hold a pensioner concession card or DVA Gold Card (TPI, EDA or War Widow), OR
- hold a Centrelink Health Care Card (including a low income health care card), OR
- hold a Commonwealth Seniors Health Care Card, OR
- receive an eligible Centrelink allowance*
In addition, the address for which you are claiming the concession must be your principal place of residence and your name should appear on the electricity bill. Note: If you do not receive an energy bill from an established energy retailer, or your home does not have an electricity meter (for example, if you live in a retirement village or generate your own electricity), you will need to supply copies of receipts for ongoing energy costs, such as LPG receipts. If you live in a residential park, you may instead receive a single lump sum concessions payment to assist with household expenses, which includes an amount for energy.
To be eligible for an energy concession, you must not be living with anyone who has an income of more than $3,000 per year, unless they are your spouse/domestic partner/dependant, or they receive an allowance from Centrelink or the Department of Veterans Affairs.
* Eligible Centrelink payments are:
Newstart allowance, Parenting Payment Partnered, Bereavement Allowance, Sickness Allowance, Special Benefit, Widow Allowance, Partner Allowance, Youth Allowance, New Enterprise Incentive Scheme or Commonwealth Development Employment Program (CDEP) allowance, or Exceptional Circumstances allowance.
