Financial advice for young people

Last Updated Jun 2010

We have trained financial counsellors who can provide free confidential advice as well as help you work out suitable budgets and debt repayment schemes with your creditors. Local offices also can provide emergency financial assistance and concessions.

If you need advice about concessions, contact the Concessions hotline on 1800 307 758.

The Office for Consumer and Business Affairs has two websites especially for young people.

Centrelink's Financial Information Service (FIS) is a free and independent service available to anyone. You do not have to be getting a payment from Centrelink to use this service.

For children and young people who are, or have been, under the Guardianship of the Minister of South Australia, the Dame Roma Mitchell Grants for Children and Young People provides grants to either assist with personal goals, professional development or contribute to their health and wellbeing.
